About

Established in 2026

Bold Whispers is a newly created consultancy rooted in over 25 years of frontline work with learning-disabled and autistic adults, their families and the staff who support them.

We are starting small and purposeful, shaping our offer around what people with lived experience, carers and leaders tell us is most needed.

Again and again, we see that harmful gaps in care are rarely caused by ill intent. They grow from oversights, stretched systems, and the struggle to translate trauma-informed principles into the very specific realities of each day and night in residential and day services. Bold Whispers exists to pay close, embodied attention to those gaps and to stand alongside teams as they try out more informed, creative, and responsive ways of working.

Our work draws on arts psychotherapy, body-based and trauma-informed practice, and a deep belief that behaviour is meaningful communication, especially when words are limited or unavailable. We prioritise co-production, designing training, reflective spaces, and practice development with, rather than for, people with lived experience, families, and staff. Over time, we aim to grow practice-based evidence by documenting what changes, what helps, and what remains stubbornly resistant, so that everyday learning in services can ripple into wider conversations about mental health care and policy.

Bold Whispers is at the beginning of its journey, but the questions shaping it have been forming for decades.

We look forward to creating history with you – one conversation, one relationship and one small but significant change at a time.
